2007.  After several years as a white plane jane airplane I finally decided to put some strips on her.

I looked around and as this plane was built closer to plans than even the factory Q200 I decided to paint it just like the Factory Q200 back in 1984.

Below is a shot of the factory Q200

Below is a shot of my new stripes.

Anyway below are some shots of how the new canopy (tined) was installed and the stripes applied.  The pictures are thumbnails so you can click on them for a full size picture.

Two steps, new tinted canopy then stripes.

Tinted Canopy.  For over 20 years I cooked under that old clear canopy.

A Jig was built to support the canopy frame.

The new glass was initially fit in place.

Electrical tape was used to keep the epoxy from running down the outside glass (hopefully).

Trim lines marked on the new plexi.

The best tool for cutting plexi!

My workstation.  Cleaning out the old plexi.

Preparing the new glass.  I figured the clingwrap would protect the plexi from epoxy drips.  you can't really see it well but the plexi below the black tape was hand sanded and will be the bonding surface area.

Epoxy was painted onto the canopy and frame.  The plexi was laid into the frame and a few of these tabs were needed to hold the plexi in place.

Stripes!

Two steps, light blue then dark blue.  I actually got the N Number and Q200 stick on lettering done at a vinyl sign place.  I took a sample of the stuff to the paint place and had them match the colors.  Worked perfectly!

The End, Let's Go Flying!
